I continue to crave creative expression by designing editorial layouts for Xpat Magazine in Taiwan. The theme for January’s issue is ‘Beauty’ and I’m thrilled to be working on a feature article about street artist, Derek Mehaffy of Ottawa, Canada. Inspired by urban decay and lost, abandoned spaces, Derek’s work relies on the spontaneity of found objects. His artwork can be found in dark, dusty corners of Berlin, Tapei, Dublin and Paris. See more samples at: www.flickr.com/photos/other/. My next article for this issue is a story on the history of Taiwanese Opera. Quite a juxtaposition, but equally beautiful. Stay tuned.

The client has resurrected a previous logo concept, which I LOVE. A few small tweaks were made to “gender neutralize” our young reader, and the whole package was sent off to the Province of BC for approval. This inaugural award for Early Literacy in BC is set to launch in this March. Thanks to the BC Achievement Foundation and Turner-Riggs Workspace, both of whom are a designer’s dream client.

We completed the vision story in October for this multi-phase residential and commercial development on Salt Spring Island. Using this document as a guide, I designed and co-ordinated Phase One of the website, which went live Dec.18th.
The Phase I website can be viewed at www.channelridge.com.
