Garibaldi Lift Co. Menus
November 4, 2007
New artwork was created for menus at the Garibaldi Lift Co, Whistler’s favourite apres ski bar. Hands down, the GLC offers the best food, atmosphere and entertainment in Whistler. Having spent a fair chunk of time polishing the bar at the GLC with my shirt sleeves over the years, I was pleased to be involved in this project. The graphic theme I created captures the retro-ski cool of the GLC, while also giving a nod to their stellar reputation for booking the hottest up & coming musical acts on the West Coast.

Afghanistan amputees editorial v.1
April 17, 2007
I attended a storytelling event last night in Whistler and, while absolutely brilliant, I felt most presenters would have benefited greatly from liberal doses of self-editing. After all, to revise and distill … and distill again … is probably what separates brilliance from genius. With this philosophy in mind, I’m trying hard not to over-design this article for Xpat magazine. The photos are so powerful and so haunting, the last thing I want is to take away from their impact with useless graphic elements and embellishments. Yet… how can I bring out the beauty even more? Someone wise once said to me: “simplicity is elegance,” and that is why I’ve desaturated the colour from all the photographs. To me, this project just doesn’t need the added distraction of colour.

Hilton Whistler re-branding
April 11, 2007
A spankin’ new brand for Hilton Whistler’s fine dining restaurant. The concept reinforces the exceptional food and service promise that is the Hilton hallmark, and adds a modern flair with cool fonts and colour schemes. The restaurant’s interior images were not strong, so we opted instead to focus on food photography which worked out quite well. The client is thrilled.
