Xpat Magazine, Taiwan

Only in Taiwan! Feature spread for an article called “Heaven & Hell” about an animatronic attraction wherein visitors are treated to robotic depictions of what horrors await the sinner in the afterlife – complete with an animated devil driving a steamroller over mutilated sinners’ bodies. Fun for the whole family!

Non-fiction winner

Announcement ads in Globe & Mail and Vancouver Sun for the 4th Annual BC Award for Canadian Non-Fiction, a $40,000 literary prize. I’ve been working with this client since the award was introduced and it’s such a pleasure to see the program evolving over the years.

Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC approached me to develop marketing materials to solicit international students to their programs. A series of large-format banners were also produced, as well as advertising to be placed in publications in Singapore, Thailand, Africa and Indonesia.

Fresh new designs for the Heart of Darkness trail in Whistler’s Mountain Bike Park. A name like Heart of Darkness provokes endless fodder for the creative mind. Here are just two: Option 1 depicts ravens in a dying tree waiting to peck at a black heart. Concept 2 has bats flying out of a bleeding heart in the dead of night. The client loved both.

The past month has been spent on major foundation work… concept development, research, proposals, estimates, quotes… and last but not least… creative resuscitation through gallery visits & skiing. Productive, but not much eye candy to show. That’s all about to change in the next 6 weeks with lots of cool new clients and projects coming online. Here’s one of 6 t-shirt concepts I’m working on for the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.
